歌姫BEST
Direct from Faithway and Hamu san’s discovery, this is the cover art for 歌姫BEST.
Hamu san is a little disappointed (or shocked) but I personally think it’s actually quite nice. I like it for it’s stark freshness and maybe I was expecting something really fugly, given my known distaste for 豹皮. I also love the porcupine hairdo. It’s so different it’s refreshing and I think it may make the press again.
I also hope that the DVD "cover" at the bottom does not end up being the eventual cover because that image has been recycled too many times and it’s not even pretty! Enuff Said.
リバーサイドホテル is a live version which is a little disappointing, so I’m hoping it’s a different night from the one that is on the DVD. But then again, I think people who buy this will realise what a great LIVE singer she is and may watch her concerts.

On the whole, I think it’s a good selection though I could do without tracks 7, 8, 9 and 13. I think there are better songs like "No More Encore" but I guess they had selected them based on popularity of the songs and singers as well. Still, the 2 and a half (live versions can only count as half) new songs make this quite a good buy. It’s also charting rather well on the HMV preorder site. Together with the DVD, it is constantly making the Top 50, so maybe we can see some improvement and excitement.
Chinatown Dream Come True
This news marks the confirmation of the inclusion of 「チャイナタウン」 in 「歌姫ベスト～２５ｔｈＡｎｎｉｖｅｒｓａｒｙ Ｓｅｌｅｃｔｉｏｎ～」.
中森明菜が女性シンガー初の“永ちゃんカバー”に挑戦
ロックシンガー、矢沢永吉（５７）の歌が女性アーティストによって初めてカバーされることになった。歌うのは、ナント、中森明菜（４１）。デビュー２５周年の最終企画として、来年１月１７日に発売予定のアルバム「歌姫ベスト～２５ｔｈＡｎｎｉｖｅｒｓａｒｙ Ｓｅｌｅｃｔｉｏｎ～」に収録する。明菜が足かけ８年半の念願をかなえた渾身の１曲という。
注目の矢沢の曲は「チャイナタウン」（作詞・山川啓介、作曲・矢沢永吉）。平成１０年７月２９日に発売された作品で、矢沢が声を絞り出すような唱法で歌った魂のスローバラードだ。
明菜は「聴いた瞬間から歌いたいと思い続けてきた」と言い、５年前に矢沢サイドに正式に打診。なかなか「ＯＫ」が出なかったが、関係者は「明菜の意志をようやく理解してもらえた」と実現を喜んでいる。
今回のアルバムは、明菜が過去に３作発表してきたカバーアルバム「歌姫」シリーズの集大成として、初の試みとなるカバーのベスト盤として発売する。最後の最後に、明菜が最もカバーしたかった作品が収録された。
また、新たに山口百恵さんのヒット曲「いい日旅立ち」も収録。同曲は、今秋公開の映画「旅の贈りもの－０・００発」の主題歌に起用され、ファンの間ではシングル化が期待されていた。
Interesting points included that when the instant Akina heard this song, she felt the desire to sing it and this urge only continued as time went by. She seeked permission from the singer songwriter to cover this song 5 years ago but never received a formal 「ＯＫ」. Eventually, her will power and perserverance moved the songwriter or his management team to give her the nod. Naturally, she is delighted (and I speak for the fans when I say we feel the same way too, even though I have never heard the song before).
This will be her final project to close out her 25th Anniversary celebration and lastly, 「いい日旅立ち」 was once again mentioned with the added note that it is her fans wishes that it will be released as single. Wonder whose blog or BBS they are reading …
Bao Pi’er!!!
guys, (love) brace yourselves. i just realised that the 2007 calendar could be a very good hint of things to come… YIKES! it reminds me of Apple’s Mac OSX Leopard! hahaha. now i really wanna see her FireStarter hairdo.
Jamez, this is our “bao ying” (retribution) ahhhhhhhh. we’ve been joking about her bao pi’er tights and coat and she’s making that fashion faux pas return with a vengeance to haunt us.

Update from Dinner Show [歌姫ベスト]
According to various BBS,
Akina mentioned at her dinner show 2006 that :
1. 「チャイナタウン」「リバーサイドホテル」「いい日旅立ち」 will be new recordings that are included for the release.
2. The cover for 歌姫ベスト is said to be of 豹柄の着物 ( Lepoard skin theme) and hairstlye was said to be "as if hair was burned by fire????" (implying an explosive-like hairstyle?? a big perm??)
Anyway, good to look forward to all the above.
In addition, Akina is confirmed to appear on Heyx3 on 15th Jan 07 for a talkshow corner (meaning no singing… =( )

I thought 「Best Finger」 was already the 25th Anniversary Best, but anyway, any promotion is good promotion. This is the latest:
明菜が25周年アルバム厳選15曲
歌手中森明菜（４１）が、デビュー２５周年ファイナル企画アルバム「歌姫ベスト～２５ｔｈ Ａｎｎｉｖｅｒｓａｒｙ Ｓｅｌｅｃｔｉｏｎ」（来年 １月１７日発売）をリリースする。中森はカバーアルバム「歌姫」シリーズをこれまで３枚発売したが、今回はその中からよりすぐったベスト盤だ。
「歌姫」シリーズは９４年３月に第１弾を発売。「ボーカリスト明菜の魅力をアピール」というコンセプトのもと、ほかのアーティストの名曲をカバー した。１作目は１０万枚程度だったが、２作目は５０万枚、３作目も４０万枚を売り上げるなど、同シリーズは大きな話題を呼んだ。
今回の収録曲は、山口百恵「秋桜」、松田聖子「瑠璃色の地球」、荒井由実「魔法の鏡」、安全地帯「恋の予感」、テレサテン「別れの予感」、井上陽水「傘がない」など１５曲を予定している。
