Thank Youse

I know this is not really an Akina post, but I just wanted  to say Thank You (somewhere) to everyone (no matter how much/little we contribute and including "faceless" visitors) for a really good job in making this one of the most interactive sites about any idol, let alone Akina. It has evolved into one of my most frequent stops on my everyday life and it is a pleasure, not only to read, but feel the excitement in the posts and more importantly, the camaraderie between us all "English" Akina fans.

Previously, there hasn’t been a platform for non Japanese speaking/reading Akina fans to learn much, let alone discuss about her, so a big Thanx to Danny for bringing us all closer. This site is now like a "support" group for all of us to rant and discuss and has also in many ways enabled us to develop familial relationships, even though most of us are in different parts of the world.

Lastly, this wouldn’t be possible without Akina, so lending a sample off ABBA’s song (without ABBA’s permission unlike Madonna):

Thank you for the muzik, the songs we’re singing
Thanks for all the joy you’re bringing
Who can live without it, we ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So we thank Akina for the muzik
For giving it to me …

Akina fanboy since 14. Still undecided which are his top ten favourite Akina tracks as it's mission impossible. Digs "Everlasting Love" a whole lot more than the average Akina fan.

  1. Now what if she recorded an Utahime album of ABBA songs…or maybe the Carpenters…

  2. Oh … I love the Carpenters. They are my favourite English group. I know they are not hip nor cool, but I’m older (i.e. who cares anymore) and Karen’s got the most enchanting voice that gets under your skin.

Though, having listened to Shonen Knife’s covers, I don’t think anyone Japanese should cover their songs … Ha! Ha!

  3. Yeah, Karen Carpenter ranks as one of the best female vocalists (the others in my list include Barbra Streisand, Akina Nakamori, Julie Andrews, Suzy Bogguss). None of those scream-your-head-off types like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Christina Agui-something, or Whitney Houston please. They have great voices, but screaming isn’t singing…

Oops, sorry, this is supposed to be an Akina blog, isn’t it?

  4. hey faceless one! 😉 actually, this is basically an Akina blog, but we can discuss anything remotely related to her…such as music! hahaha. so anything goes!

    oh, and hello!

  5. oh, i forgot…

Jamez – thank YOU!! 😉 it’s wonderful how music and Akina can bring people together. our paths wouldn’t have crossed, and we wouldn’t have been friends if not for her. that’s the reality!

i’m glad everyone’s enjoying reading and writing this blog. can you imagine we’re only one month old? imagine the wealth of info we will have after a year!

  6. Hurrah, so very well said! Thank you, Jamez! I’m sure that all who visit this site will share in those sentiments.
