Naoko Kawai – Debut

Naoko Kawai’s performances are always a joy to watch. this was her 1985 Kouhaku performance. notice how Koji’s guitar caught fire (yes it did!) and startled the ever-so-sweet Naoko. she retreated with grace (smile still hanging on her face), and then re-emerged to take the stage when the commotion was over. just like a pro.

note to Ranbi: hey, can’t recall if you’ve sent me this song before? i want and can’t find on iTunes!

Akina fanboy since 14. Still undecided which are his top ten favourite Akina tracks as it's mission impossible. Digs "Everlasting Love" a whole lot more than the average Akina fan.

  1. Ranbi, thanks for the MP3 files : ) Can add "Simle for You, Smile for Me" in the share file? It’s nostalgic to me, coz I used to listen to the Chinese cover.

Ray, Naoko has retired from showbiz after her marriage. Thinks she got married in the mid-90s….

  2. Has anyone seen Akina singing "Fei Xiang Ni Fei Xiang Wo"? Just kidding on the Chinese version. It is in Japanese and she looks really cute with Naoko encouraging her by the side!

  3. thanks for this. her voice is incredible, almost as sparkling as her eyes.

i think it was the year before that she looked really chic, singing my favourite song of hers, KUCHIBIRU NO PRIVACY…

  4. haha.. I didn’t realize.. what about at FNS festival where she won the best singer award with this song?

  5. Hi I am new here. Thanks to Youtube, got a chance to see some performances by Akina and Naoko. Immediately fell in love with their voices and talent. I watched a clip in Youtube where Naoko received her best singer award for Kuchibiru no Privacy. I noticed that Akina sang together at the background. Very sweet. Are they good friends? Just wonder if anyone has a clip of them performing together.

  6. She is one of my favourite singer – the other of course was Akina Nakamori… This song is called "Fly me to love". I was just 12 years old then. I still remember watching the Red vs White competition.

  7. Hi there,
