Empress Live DVD review in a music mag

a very well-written review, translated roughly as follow:

" This DVD records Nakamori Akina’s Empress Live 2005 at Shinagawa. Crowned with the same name as her "Utahime" series(ie. Empress), which can be regarded as Akina’s 2nd biggest break in her singing career.Like the "Utahime" series, the live is also made up of cover songs, around a simple round("yen" coin shape) stage with 2 musicians. Refined as an acoustic live, in the middle of the concert, Akina presented a bosa nova section, with 「接吻」(similar arrangement as 中島美嘉’s version). From this section onwards, a relaxed yet influencing, as "歌姫、明菜" can be felt strongly. Arrangement had been bold and different from the original albums. Akina seleced 3 songs of 井上陽水 to cover, which she did it differently in her style, good and definitely outstanding. It somehows opened up a new area that Akina can challenge next time."

Akina fanboy since 14. Still undecided which are his top ten favourite Akina tracks as it's mission impossible. Digs "Everlasting Love" a whole lot more than the average Akina fan.

  1. Good to see that she’s getting some good coverage.

Well, maybe she can release an entire album of Inoue compositions, like Naoko Ken did with Nakajima Miyuki. The only difference is that Naoko Ken actually sounds very much like Miyuki, so it is not terribly original. Still beautiful though …

  2. Thank you for the posting. It is a very good review.

Thank you for keep posting this. I love hearing about Akina in the Media.
